Each order is paid in one of two ways: into Keepa's escrow, or straight to the seller through Paystack. Which one applies is shown at checkout and on your order page, and it doesn't change after you pay.
Escrow orders. When you pay, the money does not go to the seller. Keepa holds it until one of these happens:
- You confirm delivery. The seller is paid straight away. Only confirm once the item is in your hands, because this can't be undone.
- 3 days pass after delivery without you reporting a problem. The payment is then released to the seller automatically.
- The seller cancels or can't fulfil the order. You get a full refund.
- A dispute is decided by Keepa staff (see “Problems with an order”).
Held money sits in Keepa's account with our payment provider, Paystack. It earns no interest for buyers or sellers. Sellers can't release held money themselves.
Direct orders. Paystack splits your payment at checkout: the seller's share goes to the seller's bank account (usually the next working day) and Keepa's fee goes to Keepa. Keepa does not hold the money. You can still confirm delivery and report a problem, and Keepa still decides disputes. If you're owed a refund, it is sent to you through Paystack and taken from the seller, including from their future sales on Keepa.
